Classification: IMPORTANT
We are now providing greater flexibility in deciding when serial numbers are required for parts in production. This update introduces configurable options at multiple levels, ensuring better traceability and compliance.
Challenge
Previously, serial number validation might unnecessarily block production when serial numbers were not needed for every part.
Solution
The updated logic introduces layered control across multiple applications.
Operation (OPR) application:
Enable Require serial number before completion to enforce serial number validation before completing a Work order operation (WOO).
Product (ART) application
Use Require serial number when traceable material to set default behavior for parts in the Product unit (LCM).

Product unit/Life cycle management (LCM) application
Override requirements for individual parts using the Req serialno checkbox in the Part List.
Production/Product structure level (KITARTOPRITM / KITDOCOPRITM)
Enable CheckSerialnoOnParts to enforce checks during production for specific operations.
