Classification: IMPORTANT
We’re enhancing how wastage is calculated in Production structures (KITDOC) to improve accuracy in material planning and cost estimation.
In manufacturing, wastage typically occurs in two forms:
Startup Wastage: Fixed quantity lost at the beginning of each production run.
Running Wastage: Percentage-based loss relative to the produced quantity.
Previously, RamBase only applied the fixed wastage quantity when both types were specified, leading to inaccurate planning and tracking.
Percentage-based wastage was ignored, even when entered.
This caused incorrect inventory reservations, purchasing decisions, and cost estimations.
Additionally, incorrect wastage linking occurred after splitting a Production work order (PWO) without starting Work order operations (WOO).
The system now:
Includes both fixed and percentage-based wastage in total quantity calculations when both are specified in the Production structure (KITDOC).
Correctly handles wastage during Production work order (PWO) splits, even if no Work order operations (WOO) have started and all materials are picked.
More accurate material consumption tracking.
Improved inventory planning and reduced risk of shortages or overstock.
Better cost estimation for production runs of varying sizes.

Classification: IMPORTANT
We’re enhancing how wastage is calculated in Production structures (KITDOC) to improve accuracy in material planning and cost estimation.
Background
In manufacturing, wastage typically occurs in two forms:
Startup Wastage: Fixed quantity lost at the beginning of each production run.
Running Wastage: Percentage-based loss relative to the produced quantity.
Previously, RamBase only applied the fixed wastage quantity when both types were specified, leading to inaccurate planning and tracking.
Problem
Percentage-based wastage was ignored, even when entered.
This caused incorrect inventory reservations, purchasing decisions, and cost estimations.
Additionally, incorrect wastage linking occurred after splitting a Production work order (PWO) without starting Work order operations (WOO).
Solution
The system now:
Includes both fixed and percentage-based wastage in total quantity calculations when both are specified in the Production structure (KITDOC).
Correctly handles wastage during Production work order (PWO) splits, even if no Work order operations (WOO) have started and all materials are picked.
Key Behavior
More accurate material consumption tracking.
Improved inventory planning and reduced risk of shortages or overstock.
Better cost estimation for production runs of varying sizes.
