Production: Introducing default Manufacturing area (MAA) in Product (ART) structures

Classification:  IMPORTANT

Rambase is introducing the new Default manufacturing area setting in the Company settings (CSV) application.

Applying a Manufacturing area (MAA) to a Product (ART) has previously been optional.

With the introduction of the Default manufacturing area setting, a Manufacturing area (MAA) will now be mandatory for all Products (ART) with one of the following types; K (Kit), KM (Service), KS (Kit sub) or KA (Kit assembly).

The setting will add an existing Manufacturing area (MAA) named Production, PRODUCTION or Produksjon to Products (ART).If a Manufacturing area (MAA) is not found, one will be created and activated with the name Production.

To ease the transition, a number of changes will follow with the introduction of this setting:

  •  If a Product (ART) does not have a Manufacturing area number (MAANO) and it is of type; K (Kit), KM (Service), KS (Kit sub) or KA (Kit assembly), it will receive a default Manufacturing area number (MAANO).

    • The Manufacturing area number (MAANO) can be edited by the user in the Production tab in the Product (ART) application by selecting from the Manufacturing area drop-down list, as it is today.

  • The Default manufacturing area setting is locked, and can not be deactivated in the Company settings (CSV) application.

  • Products (ART) which are loaded into RamBase via Product data management (PDM) imports, will also automatically receive a default Manufacturing area (MAA), if it is not already included in the load file.
